SKILL LEVEL: Easy

The Easy Does It Chunky Cardigan has a loose fit and is knitted in separate pieces from the bottom up and sewn together afterwards. The front neck border is knitted at the same time as the front sections, keeping the design a simple and easy knit. This means that you don't have to knit a separate neckline border or pick up stitches around the neckline.

The tops of the shoulders and sleeves have a slight amount of shaping, that’s really easy to do and is created just by casting off a few stitches each row. The pattern is written in English (UK) and uses UK weight chunky yarn.

YARN QUANTITIES AND NEEDLES

  • Yarn: James, C, Brett – Marble Chunky, (200g balls): 3 (4 4, 5, 6) x 200g balls. (Shade used: MC38) Total metredge 936m (1,248m, 1,248m, 1560m, 1872m).

  • Needles: 5 mm, 6mm.

  • Either a Tapestry or Wool type needle, (for sewing up your garment at the end).

  • Ring style stitch-marker (this is optional).

The yarn used is a (UK) chunky weight yarn and each ball weighs 200g. If substituting yarn check the weight of the ball, as most chunky weight yarns are sold in 100g balls and you  would then need to double the quantity.

TENSION

(Working stocking stitch, using 6mm needles).

Width:- 14 stitches = 10cm.  Length:- 20 rows = 10cm.

The pattern uses a combination of the knit and purl stitch and very basic increases.
